Jaski at RAW Art Fair 2013 in Rotterdam

Jaski was one of the exhibitors at the RAW Art Fair 2013 in Rotterdam, which was held from Wednesday, February 6, until Sunday, February 10, 2013, in the Santos warehouse.

As a young, refreshing, surprising and innovatory fair, RAW Art was a very welcome addition to the Rotterdam Art Week. There were more than 60 exhibitors. Part of the program was the so called RAW Expo, where the participating galleries showed one or more extra works with bigger sizes. For this Expo, the organization also used the social media to invite young and independent artists to show their works. The theme of this year was China.

Jaski showed works from Emilio Kruithof, Chris Berens, Les Deux Garçons, Jill Greenberg and others.

The best kept secret of Emilio Kruithof

Audition
Best kept secret

From Saturday, November 10, until  Sunday, November 25, Jaski Art Gallery organizee a new exhibition with works from Emilio Kruithof, titled 'Best kept secret'.

Jaski represents Emilio Kruithof already for many years exclusively. We are happy that he was able to create fifteen new works for this spectacular show. They were oil paintings on canvas and have different sizes.

'Best kept secret' (left) was the smallest of them all (53x46cm). It is still for sale, just like 'Audition' (right).

Jill Greenberg returns with 'Horses'

Serpa 0753
Casey 821

From Saturday 1 until Sunday December 16, 2012, Jaski organized a new show with works from Jill Greenberg. The title: Horses.

It was the second time the Canadian/American photographer (Montreal, 1967) exhibited at Jaski. Last year we showed 'Ursine', with huge portraits of bears. As with her famous celebrity and crying baby photographs and monkey portraits, the artist captured an astonishing array of personalities, expressions, and emotions in her ursine friends.

Jill managed to do the same in 'Horses'. Printed on a massive scale, the horses insistently demand our undivided attention; yet the gorgeous prints also seduce us in a subtler manner with their sensuous, painterly textures achieved by the artist’s expert digital finishing. During the official opening, Jills book 'Horses' was presented for the first time in Europe. It is possible to buy this book in our gallery.

The image on the left (click for an enlargement) shows the cover of the book and is a part of a mixed media on panel, sized 210 x 210 centimeters, also titled 'Mapping Infinity'. This huge work (sold) was exhibited as well.

Positive reactions in the world of pop to the new album 'Panic of Girls' by legendary singer Deborah Harry and her band Blondie. Both the album and the design for the cover by Chris Berens, were received with great enthusiasm.

Deborah Harry is an admiror of Chris Berens and was very happy when the successful Dutch artist told her that he considered it to be an honour to coöperate with her. During her recent show in Paradiso (Amsterdam) she dedicated her performance to Chris.

'My dear friends': unique series of portraits by Zhang Xiaogang

My dear Friends - 5

Jaski Art Gallery offers a unique series of portraits by Zhang Xiaogang, titled 'My dear friends'. These series contains seven lithographs in an edition of 99, in the fascinating style which made hem so popular. The portraits (47 x 38 cm) can also be purchased individually for € 3,500 each.

The monochromatic portraits by Zhang Xiaogang, probably the most prominent contemporary Chinese artist, are worldfamous. According to Xiaogang himself the serene quietness of the people he paints hides 'an overwhelming emotional turbulence'.

These series shows no exception. Like so often is his works, in 'My dear friends' Zhang Xiaogang painted little spots in different colours on the left side of the faces, to add an extra touch of individuality to the people that he portrayed.

Unique cooperation between Nanine Linning and Les Deux Garçons in 'Requiem'

In Osnabrück, Germany, the première of 'Requiem' by famous Dutch choreographer Nanine Linning was received with a standing ovation.

At the request of Nanine Linning, an admirer of their works, Jaski-artists Les Deux Garçons designed the costumes and the sculptures.

In Requiem, the audience first get the opportunity to mix themselves with the living objects. The dance and singing performance starts after the break. The videoclip is made by the local tv-network OS1 during a rehearsel.
