With the focus on the reopening, on April 13, of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, we have established a new show in our gallery in the Nieuwe Spiegelstraat.
Especially for this reopening, Chris Berens has made a new work, titled 'Rijksmuseum' (click on the image on the left). Sizes: 140 x 120 cm. It has already found a new owner. During this exhibition we show other works from Berens as well, and from Les Deux Garçons, such as 'Les concours de circomstances infatigables' (click on the image on the right). Furhter we have works from Emilio Kruithof, Rob Scholte and the American photographer Jill Greenberg.
We exhibit also works from CoBrA-artists like Constant, Karel Appel, Corneille, Theo Wolvecamp, Anton Rooskens, Hugo Claus, Pierre Alechinsky, Asger Jorn, Eugène Brands, Jacques Doucet, Carl Henning Pedersen and Reinhoud.

Like every year, Jaski Art Gallery was one of the exhibitors at Art Cologne. The fair was held from Friday 19 April until Monday 22 April in the Kölner Messe.
On this important fair for modern and contemporary art we showed CoBrA works from Karel Appel, Constant, Corneille, Asger Jorn, Eugène Brands, Pierre Alechinsky, Carl-Henning Pedersen, Theo Wolvecamp, Anton Rooskens, Lucebert, Jacques Doucet and Hugo Claus.
International top works at Tefaf 2013
For the 26th time, Jaski was one of the exhibitors at the world's most important art and antique fair Tefaf in Maastricht. As always, the fair was held in the MECC buildings, this time from Friday 15 March until Sunday 24 March.
International top works were shown on Tefaf, like 'Le vieux clochard' by Constant from 1994 (click on the image on the right), exhibited by Jaski. This oil on canvas (89 x 116 cm) comes from the collection of the artist and was shown before in the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam ('Constant - paintings 1948-1995' in 1996) and the Musée Picasso in Antibes ('Constant, une rétrospective' in 2001). We also showed works from other CoBrA-artists like Karel Appel, Corneille, Asger Jorn, Eugène Brands, Pierre Alechinsky, Carl-Henning Pedersen, Theo Wolvecamp, Anton Rooskens, Lucebert, Jacques Doucet and Hugo Claus. Besides that, we had new paintings from Cole Morgan and Chris Berens.
Jaski at RAW Art Fair 2013 in Rotterdam
Jaski was one of the exhibitors at the RAW Art Fair 2013 in Rotterdam, which was held from Wednesday, February 6, until Sunday, February 10, 2013, in the Santos warehouse.
As a young, refreshing, surprising and innovatory fair, RAW Art was a very welcome addition to the Rotterdam Art Week. There were more than 60 exhibitors. Part of the program was the so called RAW Expo, where the participating galleries showed one or more extra works with bigger sizes. For this Expo, the organization also used the social media to invite young and independent artists to show their works. The theme of this year was China.
Jaski showed works from Emilio Kruithof, Chris Berens, Les Deux Garçons, Jill Greenberg and others.
The best kept secret of Emilio Kruithof
Jaski represents Emilio Kruithof already for many years exclusively. We are happy that he was able to create fifteen new works for this spectacular show. They were oil paintings on canvas and have different sizes.
'Best kept secret' (left) was the smallest of them all (53x46cm). It is still for sale, just like 'Audition' (right).
Jill Greenberg returns with 'Horses'
It was the second time the Canadian/American photographer (Montreal, 1967) exhibited at Jaski. Last year we showed 'Ursine', with huge portraits of bears. As with her famous celebrity and crying baby photographs and monkey portraits, the artist captured an astonishing array of personalities, expressions, and emotions in her ursine friends.
Jill managed to do the same in 'Horses'. Printed on a massive scale, the horses insistently demand our undivided attention; yet the gorgeous prints also seduce us in a subtler manner with their sensuous, painterly textures achieved by the artist’s expert digital finishing. During the official opening, Jills book 'Horses' was presented for the first time in Europe. It is possible to buy this book in our gallery.
Jaski exhibits at PAN 2012
Jaski was one of the exhibitors at PAN Amsterdam 2012 in the Rai Exhibition and Convention Centre in Amsterdam. The fair was organized from 18 until 25 November 2012 in the Parkhal.
We showed CoBrA-works from Karel Appel, Eugène Brands, Corneille, Constant, Pierre Alechinsky, Hugo Claus, Asger Jorn, Lucebert and Anton Rooskens, as well as a beautiful 4-piece canvas from Rob Scholte, titled Flat Screen.
Of course, Chris Berens was represented by us as well, with three spectacular new works. We exhibited new works from Emilio Kruithof, Les Deux Garçons and Jill Greenberg too.
Rob Scholte shows 'Key Works'
The coöperation between Jaski Art Gallery and Rob Scholte exists already for many years. This time nine recent paintings of bigger sizes were shown, all 150 x 150 cm, such as the painting on the image on the right, titled 'Little red riding hood'. This is an acrylic on canvas, just like '1 Night Stand' (left) and 'Cubist Waste Land' (click on the images for enlargements).
The official opening of 'Key Works' took place on Saturday, October 20, and was visited by hundreds of people.
Tessar Sebastian Lo returns with 'no evil, live on'
It was for the second time that the young Canadian/Indonesian artist exhibited at Jaski Art Gallery. His last show 'The dying wishes' was held in October and November 2011. This time, Tessar Sebastian Lo concentrated on smaller work on paper, mixed media. 'no evil, live on' could be visited until October 14.
Jaski exhibits at Affordable Art Fair in Westergasfabriek
Just like in the previous years, Jaski was one of the exhibitors at the Affordable Art Fair (AAF) in the Gashouder of the Westergasbriek in Amsterdam. The fair was held from October 25 until October 28, 2012, and was very well visited.
The concept of the AAF is unique: an inspiring atmosphere in which you can find thousands of original paintings, prints, sculpture and photography all under one roof, and all under €5,000.
Chris Berens pays tribute to Amsterdam
From April 28 until May 20, Chris Berens payed tribute to Amsterdam in a spectacular show at Jaski Art Gallery. The title of this solo exhibition: 'Amsterdam'.
Just like his other shows, 'Amsterdam' was a huge success. As always, Chris created his works with watercolor ink and graphite on paper on wood panel.
Chris will also be the central figure in the documentary 'Chris Berens. Master of his Magical Universe', made by Hans Quatfass for the Avro-program Close Up. This film will be financed through crowdfunding. Click here for more information.
Show '800 books & 1 painting' by Chris Berens, new book 'Mapping Infinity'
During the official opening of the Chris Berens show '800 books & 1 painting' on Saturday, September 10, we also presented a new book about his works, titled 'Mapping Infinity'.
'Mapping Infinity' (huge sizes: 46 x 33 centimeters) has a total of 172 pages and an edition of 800. It is for sale for € 225. For a limited edition of 50 books, Chris made original works measuring 20 x 16 centimeters (ink and graphite on paper). These works were exhibited during '800 books & 1 painting'. They are available for € 1.750 each, included a book.
The image on the left (click for an enlargement) shows the cover of the book and is a part of a mixed media on panel, sized 210 x 210 centimeters, also titled 'Mapping Infinity'. This huge work (sold) was exhibited as well.
The book includes forewords by singer Deborah Harry (Blondie) and her guitar player Chris Stein. Both of them are collectors of the works by Chris Berens. An extensive interview with the artist, made by Amanda Erlanson, is published as well. 'Mapping Infinity' shows an overview of the last four exhibitions in Seattle, Amsterdam, New York City and Seattle again. Each work has an accompanying text.
Deborah Harry dedicates show in Paradiso to Chris Berens
Positive reactions in the world of pop to the new album 'Panic of Girls' by legendary singer Deborah Harry and her band Blondie. Both the album and the design for the cover by Chris Berens, were received with great enthusiasm.
Deborah Harry is an admiror of Chris Berens and was very happy when the successful Dutch artist told her that he considered it to be an honour to coöperate with her. During her recent show in Paradiso (Amsterdam) she dedicated her performance to Chris.
'Panic of girls' has been recorded in the Applehead Studio in Woodstock. It is the ninth album by Blondie and contains fifteen tracks, uncluding the hit 'Mother'. Most lyrics are written by Deborah Harry.
'My dear friends': unique series of portraits by Zhang Xiaogang
Jaski Art Gallery offers a unique series of portraits by Zhang Xiaogang, titled 'My dear friends'. These series contains seven lithographs in an edition of 99, in the fascinating style which made hem so popular. The portraits (47 x 38 cm) can also be purchased individually for € 3,500 each.
The monochromatic portraits by Zhang Xiaogang, probably the most prominent contemporary Chinese artist, are worldfamous. According to Xiaogang himself the serene quietness of the people he paints hides 'an overwhelming emotional turbulence'.
These series shows no exception. Like so often is his works, in 'My dear friends' Zhang Xiaogang painted little spots in different colours on the left side of the faces, to add an extra touch of individuality to the people that he portrayed.
Unique cooperation between Nanine Linning and Les Deux Garçons in 'Requiem'
In Osnabrück, Germany, the première of 'Requiem' by famous Dutch choreographer Nanine Linning was received with a standing ovation.
At the request of Nanine Linning, an admirer of their works, Jaski-artists Les Deux Garçons designed the costumes and the sculptures.
In Requiem, the audience first get the opportunity to mix themselves with the living objects. The dance and singing performance starts after the break. The videoclip is made by the local tv-network OS1 during a rehearsel.

At the request of actress Blake Lively, the set designer of Gossip Girl uses five works of Emilio Kruithof in the fourth season of this series.
