After 10 years, Femke Hiemstra returned with ‘Sonntag Spasstag’
For the first time, Jaski Gallery organized a solo show with works from Femke Hiemstra. This exhibition was titled ‘‘Sonntag Spasstag’ and could be visited from Saturday September 30 until Sunday October 15, 2017.
For the pas 10 years, Femke Hiemstra, who lives in Amsterdam at the moment, didn’t exhibit in The Netherlands. HER DISTINCTIVE STYLE QUICKLY CAPTURED ATTENTION in the US AND LATER SHE FOUND SUCCESS across the globe AS A FINE ARTIST, BOASTING AN IMPRESSIVE COLLECTOR AND FAN BASE.
HER DREAMLIKE AND CLEVERLY HUMOUROUS PAINTINGS AND DRAWINGS TRADITIONALLY FEATURE ANTHROPOMORPHIC FLORA AND FAUNA IN DARKLY FANTASTICAL NARRATIVES. SHE USES ACRYLIC PAINT OR GRAPHITE PENCIL ON VARIOUS (FOUND) CANVASSES.
The official opening of ‘Sonntag Spasstag’ took place on Saturday September 30. The artist was present. On the same day an interview with Femke Hiemstra was pubished in the weekend section ‘Vrij’ of De Telegraaf.
