‘MY DEAR FRIENDS’: UNIQUE SERIES OF PORTRAITS BY ZHANG XIAOGANG
Jaski Art Gallery offers a unique series of portraits by Zhang Xiaogang, titled ‘My dear friends’. These series contains seven lithographs in an edition of 99, in the fascinating style which made hem so popular. The portraits (47 x 38 cm) can also be purchased individually for € 3,500 each.
The monochromatic portraits by Zhang Xiaogang, probably the most prominent contemporary Chinese artist, are worldfamous. According to Xiaogang himself the serene quietness of the people he paints hides ‘an overwhelming emotional turbulence’.
These series shows no exception. Like so often is his works, in ‘My dear friends’ Zhang Xiaogang painted little spots in different colours on the left side of the faces, to add an extra touch of individuality to the people that he portrayed.
